Gabe Lysak Commits to Cornerstone University
Edmonton Padres 18U AAA outfielder Gabe Lysak has committed to attend Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Michigan to play for the Golden Eagles. Gabe will join at least one other Canadian recruit this fall as part of an NAIA college baseball program with a strong history of international recruitment.
“I’m very grateful for the opportunity to further my academic and athletic abilities at Cornerstone University,” said Lysak. “I’m especially grateful for the support I have received from coaches, family and friends along the way.”
Although Baseball Alberta’s Norwest League season is currently suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this will be Gabe’s third in 18U AAA where he’s been a consistent top of the order hitter and leader in a dominant Padres outfield. He’ll soon join fellow Padres teammates south of the border in US college baseball.
“I’m so proud and honored to have coached this kid!” said Padres 18U AAA Head Coach Dwayne Pankiw. “It has definitely been a pleasure to coach and watch him grow as a player and as a young man. Gabe has always had a super attitude and is a real role model for his peers. Even when times were tough, he always worked hard to battle through it. Gabe, I wish you all the success in your college career! Congratulations and best of luck.”
